Unusual French & Russian programme at Radio France, with the ONF conducted by Maestro Jean-Claude Casadesus, and the impeccable violinist Sarah Nemtanu as soloist.
The 1st piece of the programme was Lalo’s Overture of his opera Le Roi d’Ys, that I do not remember having heard before. It is a an interesting piece, performed very nicely..
Then were Saint-Saëns’ Introduction et Rondo capriccioso and Maurice Ravel’s Tzigane, 2 pieces brilliantly played by Sarah Nemtanu, who displayed her skills.
The second part of the evening was dedicated to Mussorgsky, with the famous Pictures at an Exhibition, orchestrated by Ravel. Jean-Claude Casadesus and the ONF musicians performance was particularly convincing.
