The great pianist Nicholas Angelich and violinist Renaud Capuçon were playing Brahms Violin & Piano Sonatas at the Philharmonie de Paris.
This is far from being the 1st time they play these works together on stage – and they also have recorded them, as well as the Piano Trios and Quartets.
Sonata No.1, the “Regen” (Rain Sonata) was delightful!
But what could be said of the other 2 sonatas, 2 absolute masterpieces, ideally served by 2 musicians in harmony!!
They gave the Scherzo of the FAE Sonata as an encore.
As Brahms in person said: “Only these filthy French know how to play my music!”
