Exhibition L’Esprit Singulier – Collection of Auberive Abbey – at the Halle Saint Pierre

During the summer of 2016, the Halle Saint Pierre in Montmartre hosted the exhibition L’Esprit Singulier, with works from the collection of Auberive Abbey. If certain artists present in the collection were missing in Paris – like the great Egyptian born painter Ibrahim Shahda or the Spaniard Antonio Saura – visitors could see several major contemporary artists and some good surprises.

The Auberive Abbey, located in the Haute-Marne department, hosts an important contemporary art collection, assembled by the Volot family.

In Paris it was possible to see works by famous and less famous artists, such as Karel Appel, Lydie Arickx, Pierre Bettencourt, Vincent Bizien, Roger Decaux, Yolande Fièvre, Roger-Edgar Gillet, Cristine Guinamand, Youcef Korichi, the great Zoran Mušič, Stani Nitkowski, the remarkable sculptor Marc Petit, Paul Rebeyrolle, or Emmanuelle Renard, to name the ones whose works on display bore some real value in my eyes. One could note the presence of many artists labelled as “expressionists”.
